What I Feel/Issues.

Shout out to R. Kelly for the title. Today I'm going to try something different. I've been hearing talk of my posts being the same paragraph and pictures all of the time. I tried to keep it light just because the internet doesn't seem like a reader friendly place. Well this one is for the readers.
Do you know how powerful music is? Powerful enough to have groups in society emulating those they see on the television and listen to on the radio. It's mostly the children hearing this stuff and taking it in because you and I both know most of the things on the radio and television have no real relevance to what the majourity of society is going through. This includes the proletariat, the students as well as the youth trying to make it in these hard times. This brings me to my next observation, how can the title of, "best rapper alive" be given out so loosely? If you are the best at something, aren't you supposed to be looked up to and made an example of? I would hope that this is a positive example because why would you want further generations following the examples of something that won't benefit everyone?

"We just need to maintain our focus and elevate, what we do is update our formulas, we have certain formulas we just update them with the times, the rhyme style is elevated the style of beats are elevated but it's still Guru and Premier. And there is always a message involved."

This is from the beginning of "You Know My Steez" by GangStarr (Rest In Peace Guru) and I really think it exemplifies what a lot of rap is missing these days. There are no real messages in what a lot of "artists" are saying and a lot of the credit should go to the producers. All I hear is, "he has a bangin' flow and can flow on any beat." Since when is that rap? I can flow on any beat too, doesn't mean I'm saying anything. Furthermore, what this is doing is making it seem okay to take this easy route in rap and it's spawning many more rappers doing the same thing. However, they want to make us think it's not all the same so they try to make themselves different with superficial anomalies such as fashion, automobiles and women. I'm not saying every rapper is doing this but if you look at society and see the stark reality of what is going on and see who most people are getting life influences from, I think in time we may share the same mindset about this topic. I know people who just sit around and do nothing but work a nine to five, play videogames and listen to the artists perceived as the best. Not to mention the addition of drugs into the equation. I'm not saying anyone who lives like this is less of a person, I'm saying that there are so many more outlets in life that you could choose. Everyone has the potential to be something great and although there are many of us forced in to certain situations, we can overcome them with the right mindset and the right resources. Don't have any? I'll be one, just hit me up and talk to me I know what it feels like to think no one has your back and I have started getting out of that life and making things better for me and hopefully those around me. We as a people need to look up to those who can help us in these times and rappers used to be one group we could count on.
The need for money and fame have overrun the good qualities of rap and we need a better solution to our problems. They're out for self and too many people are trying to be like them as opposed to trying to oust them for misrepresenting the culture as well as the misuse of funds given to them by the fans. You're supposed to make better music off of album sales, not remake a mixtape and make it an album, not come out with a rock album when you're a rapper and certainly not denouncing what your lifes work is all about just because you're at a higher social position in your social life.

"L'argent est un bon serviteur, mais un méchant maître."

I found this quote in a giant book of quotes and it really brings to light what this world has become a slave to. The almighty dollar. Shout out to Bacon for the quote.
I'm going to end this right here and hopefully with the right reception I can make more posts like this, if not better because this is a first time experience and I can only get better. I tried my best to rid this post of any grammatical or spelling errors but please, if you find any, drop a comment or hit me up at s.mccants13@yahoo.com.
